Admissions process and more information:
If you are committed to applying to Brightworks, please submit an application
We believe that the Brightworks application is an extremely important factor in our admission decision process, and understand that we ask for a great deal of parent effort to complete our lengthy application essay. We take your application very seriously, and consider it to be a critically important part of the process of discovering whether there is a good fit between Brightworks and your student, and Brightworks and your entire family. Given Brightworks’ unique approach to a student's education, it is important that both the school and family applying have ample opportunity to explore ideas, questions, thoughts, and feelings, and our application serves as a springboard for those later conversations.
All applications, application fee, and supporting materials for the 2013/2014 school year are currently being accepted on a rolling basis until all open spots in our student body are full. Every family is welcome to apply, and should contact us if the application fee presents a hardship for your family. Applications received after spots have been filled will be placed in our wait pool. Should a spot open during the year, we will reopen the enrollment process and consider wait pool applicants for placement at Brightworks.
Tuition Assistance
Tuition for the 2013/2014 school year is $23,920. Brightworks dedicated to providing tuition assistance to our families, and currently assists more than a third of our families. While our available tuition assistance for the 2013/2014 school year will be limited, we encourage families who are experiencing financial hardship to fill out a tuition assistance request form.
Small-group School Tours
Families who express a strong affinity to the Brightworks curriculum and who we feel would be positive additions to our founding family community will be invited to attend a small group daytime school tour. These small group experiences will be held throughout the fall and spring on a rolling basis. We feel strongly that we need to limit the amount of people in our space to honor the current students’ needs, as we have an open warehouse facility filled with small groups hard at work. Due to the distraction tours cause in our students day, we are not able to offer a tour to every Brightworks applicant.
Tours for interested families are only considered when all application materials have been submitted.
Family Visits
After touring the school, parents and their child/children may be invited to meet with the director and collaborators, in order to get to know each other and explore the possibility of becoming members of the Brightworks community.
Notification of Acceptance
Admissions decisions are made thoughtfully, based primarily on the family’s and school’s shared vision regarding educational approaches and practices. There is no preference given for the date your application is received, although we do give priority to siblings of current students. Students we are not able to offer admissions to will be placed in our wait pool upon request, in case there are fall, winter, or spring admissions openings.
Brightworks holds diversity of opinion, lifestyle, ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and race to be the cornerstone of our school community. Brightworks does not discriminate in its services, programs, or admissions on any of those above criteria.
