Cloud Walls: Many Hands Make Light Work
When we founded BWX in an old mayonnaise factory in the mission our students helped us to design and build out the space! It was a fanciful bricolage of spaces that sent the message that students weren't just coauthors of their education, they were coauthors of their space.
At the beginning of this year, the Onyx band (11-13 year olds) was the author of their own space this arc.
We brainstormed needs, broke into teams to create designs and got started laying the foundations for a big wall build out. Rob who worked in construction for years before joining us at Brightworks was our guide and foreman. In teams we learned how to use new tools like the jigsaw and skill saw.
We worked in teams to lift, plan, drill, cut and measure!
