wind and center of gravity

Good morning!

The Brightworks kids have been on a fierce track in wanting to establish their own currency for Kid City, but no one has been able to figure out where to start or what the purpose of this system would be. To help everyone start thinking about currency in new ways, Thor and Mark came in this morning to talk about the history and purpose of currency.Josh and Isaac talked physics. The Flying Fish explored the vertical wind tunnel today, with reminders about the ideas of falling objects that they had experimented with earlier in the week.Mackenzie presented a challenge: "Gravity vs. Wind" to help contextualize the changes that wind has on falling objects. The kids made their own designs of flying contraptions and air craft that would fly best in the tunnel. The Ssalson Raptors experimented with their centers of gravity by shifting their weight and attempting to bend or lift their legs without moving - which they found was impossible! They headed to the park and put their experiments in center of gravity to the test. They discovered that a person is unable to swing when their center of gravity not planted in the seat of the swing. They created sculpture representations of their days at the park using found objects from their treks to and from the school....and Happy birthday, Aidan!
