K-8 Application Steps
Application
The written application provides our first opportunity to get to know your student and your family and to see whether there is a good fit between Brightworks and your child. Thank you for taking the time to fill it out as completely and honestly as you can.
Applications for priority consideration are due by January 15, 2025, but we will continue to accept applications until open spots have been filled.
Students must be at least 5 years old by September 1, 2025 to be considered for admission.
Our application process is conducted through Ravenna. Please click the button below to be redirected to the Ravenna Hub site to find the Brightworks application. Once there, you can click the “Apply” button to start the process.
Teacher Recommendation Forms
It’s important for us to hear from your student’s current teacher about their life in the classroom so that we can determine whether Brightworks’ educational approach is a good fit for your student. Please visit Ravenna to submit those forms to your student’s teacher.
In addition to current teachers, you may also delegate forms to learning specialists, or your student’s educational support team. Input from additional folks help us to understand a learners profile more completely.
Tuition Assistance
We are committed to inclusion and strongly believe that economic diversity benefits the experience of all students and families at the school. Brightworks makes tuition assistance a priority in our school’s budget, and currently roughly 34% of our families receive tuition grants, which vary depending on each family’s need.
Brightworks uses the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a third party program that helps us assess each family’s ability to pay for school tuition. Our school code is 9218. Questions and additional information can be directed to tuition@sfbrightworks.org. Applications for tuition assistance are due through the SSS website by January 11, 2024 for consideration.
We are also proudly supported by the BASIC Fund, a financial aid non-profit that supports low-income K-8 students applying for the first time to independent schools.

Final Application Steps
In Ravenna, you will be asked to submit a processing fee for your application. Families should contact us if the application fee presents a hardship.
All applications, supplemental materials, and the processing fee must be submitted before we schedule the family conversation and ask for student insight materials.
We look forward to reading your application and continuing the conversation about a spot at Brightworks for your child!
