processing

Thursday has become a day for processing, I think, for the kids and especially for the staff. We have our two incredible consultants, Anthony and Alejandra, at school and we are all able to get a ton of advice about managing the curriculum of the arc and dealing with the social-emotional aspects of the students' experience. The collaborators have taken so much care during this arc in continuing to put more and more emphasis on the morning band meetings. These gatherings have provided them and the kids with the opportunity to talk about so many important issues and topics; for this morning conversations centered on how people should treat each other, how people process what they're thinking about or working on, and how people conduct themselves in a community.DSCN1980DSCN1974DSCN1982DSCN1987DSCN1996The Ninja Cats continued to struggle through their potential energy car problems.IMG_0006IMG_0010Ben, Coke, and Quinn are working on prototypes for a potential energy catapult machine that can run on land and water.IMG_0015Writers' workshop for the Flying Fish focused on creating simple plots for characters.DSCN2013DSCN2012The swing on the cork floor had to come down today because the rope had become so frayed that the core showed through.IMG_0012The Flying Fish experimented with paper airplanes in the afternoon.DSCN2036DSCN2043Chane took Kaia, Audrey, Zada, and Theo to Coffee Bar to busk on the sidewalk and work on a play.IMG_0008And the food for thought comes when we ask, "How can we make this place an even better one?"
