Take A Walk In My Shoes
Our high schoolers in Obsidian (aged 14-16) undertook a three-phase project for our community arc identity project.
The first element was creating a resumé. This an essential life skill that can be valuable to students at this age, many of whom currently work or plan to get summer jobs next year. Students took a thorough look at the skills and experience they currently possess and in turn, gleaned an idea of those that they'd like to build up.
Concurrently, students began an art project based on their actual shoes and for some, their fantasy shoes. The shoes we wear express our personalities and styles (and our school is about to enter fashion arc). They may give others information about us. Rob started all the students on pencil techniques and shading, and students continued in the vein, but some branched out to digital drawing, or adding color.
Finally, we added some poetry to accompany our shoe drawings because we love poetry as a form of self-expression.
